I get that bad stuff happens, that some circumstances are just out of our control- sicknesses, natural disasters, etc. What I struggle with is when people create problems out of selfishness and stupidity. Have I done this myself? Oh yeah!
In the last week, I have heard of 3 marriages struggling because of selfishness, because of the lack of serving, because someone won't get their head out of their...foot...and start being NICE. So I have been mulling such things over. Bad things happen when people stop being nice..or just don't ever start. The world needs more NICE. More of people doing things for no reason, other than to make someone else's day better. How about doing something that doesn't necessarily make logical sense, but doing it anyways, just to be NICE?
So, that's the kind of thing that is sitting in my brain as I go about my day. This started off as a big, more eloquent post that was going somewhere...but I erased a lot of it and decided just to let it be at this. I don't need to stand on a soapbox, I just need to start living NICE out in practical ways more and more.
Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.

Preach it, girl! This world could use a LOT more nice!
-still trying to figure out how you get your head in your foot- hehehe! ;o)
I so get this post. Unfortunately I have to admit that I have been that selfish booger butt in my marriage at times. okay, maybe a lot of times. You are so right on this post. Why does the world focus and glorify the bad, sad and selfish? It is time for people to start looking outside themselves. Thanks for challenging me! (And for being so nice yourself!)
Nice is good. :-) I wish I could get my kids to understand this concept!!
and you know what?? Christians are often the LEAST nice of the people out there!! That's what grates my cheese!!
Good post, Jane. Good post!
