Potpourri

I think about posting, but it just seem so hard to get the time to do it lately. Here is just a smattering of what we have been up to:

Getting into the Olympic spirit. The Games are being hosted in my area, a ferry ride away. I was a bit of critic before they came, and although we didn't attend any actual events, we walked through the city one day and had a blast watching them on TV.

The Skipper is burning the midnight oil to get our cabinets installed. After 5 year of piling stuff in boxes, totes, and Ikea toy holder thingies, it is AMAZING to have storage. I open my pantry just to look at all my lovely spices neatly resting in their chrome racks... and since we had to shuffle some things around, our work extended into a dining room makeover as far as paint, and moving our school stuff around goes... That project is not quite done yet, but perhaps I will post some makeover pics one day soon. I actually took pictures of my spices all lined up, but my computer is being too finicky and I am sick of wrestling with it, so we'll just skip those here...just picture pantry bliss.

My heart is turning towards gardening again. This year I am determined to get the peas, spinach, lettuce, beets, etc, planted in the next couple of weeks. It is has been very mild here, so I don't want to put it off any longer than that. Again...no pic...here you can picture me replacing dirt in the huge holes that the infamous Wilson dug in my garden, while I think about how me really need to finish the fence around it.

I decided that since we are getting an early spring, that some personal clean up was first on the list. I don't know what I eat to make my hair grow so fast and busy, but I was overdue for some grooming...and some gray was showing in the front.

Our 3rd turned 7, and we had a geology theme for his bd, as he is a rock hound (and his mom likes to do cheap themed parties, versus renting the pool, skating rink, etc.) We made pet rocks, did a rock hunt, and had a volcano cake, which I planned to make erupt, until my boy vetoed that- which made my life easier...
That's it for now folks...it has been so long since I posted that I am just going to finish here and post it!

I was just thinking after the first picture how long your hair had gotten...and I kind of liked it...I thought it made you look hip...in a mommy way. :)
But I like the new look too....it makes you look ready for spring.
And how cool that ya'll were that close to the Olympics.I think we watched a little on T.V...funny how we just weren't that into it this year.
It is good to hear from you...I was getting ready to send out a search party. ;)

Cute picture of you :> I like the birthday idea. I am not too good at the theme thing. I may try the rock one. What is a rock hunt?

Love the cake! I have a birthday coming up next week - also a seven year old birthday. Wondering what I'll do... I'm with you, a cheap themed party.

Jane!! I LOVE THE PICTURES!!!!!

A Geology themed party sounds like so much fun!!!!

And i so like your hair.

What fun it must have been to have the olympics so close to your house. I'd have been very into the spirit of things, too. I'm lovin' those outfits!!

I love you pics, Jane.

And boy do I understand about the posting thing. I was reading thru old posts of mine earlier and I actually TEARED UP (not something I frequently do) because I miss all of our bloggy interaction. FB is great, but keeping up with friends just felt SO much more personal than one sentence snippets. I'm going to try to do better..
