Who Needs Alcohol to Have Fun?

<
not me. never have. (Someone once thought I was inebriated after they saw me dance at an innocent night out, but that is another story. sheesh. I am not THAT bad of a dancer!) I met up with some college girl friends in the big city this weekend and had a great time visiting and finishing Christmas shopping. We had lots of silly little memorable moments that are probably memorable to no one but us, like:

* having to cross our legs to keep from wetting the car seat as we watched a man who could not drive well back out of a parking spot- my friend screamed out loud at one point when we thought he was going to smash into a vehicle behind him. We were waiting for his spot in underground parking and we had our windows down due to a malfunctioning defroster. Screaming echoes in underground parking... Needless to say, that was the point we dissolved into frantic, hysterical laughter, with myself coming up for breath often enough to yell "careful, watch what you are doing, stop laughing!!!" as my friend clumsily maneouvered into the now vacant spot.

* smirking at each other while watching Australia, starring Hugh Jackman. There were probably some other people in the movie, but we didn't notice... And yes, I still love my husband and am only attracted to him! I have eyes though, and don't need to be lustful to appreciate a rugged looking Australian man herding cattle. We spent the rest of the night giggling about Australian drovers. I bought my hubby two pairs of khaki cargos after that... hmmm... I wonder if he can fake an accent as well.

* hitting Walmart for a late night shopping trip- we clucked and worried over a mom who was yelling at her 4 kids under the age of 7, who were all crying at 1 o'clock in the morning. We offered to help, and spied on her to make sure she got to her car safely when she refused our help. It was hard not to notice her with the screaming toddler and her SCREAMING louder than all of them. Felt bad for them all and wondered at her story...

* dissolving into laughter again the next morning over breakfast when the coffee girls asked my 2 friends every 2 minutes if they wanted more coffee, and asked if they could take my plate while I was cutting up food on it and happily munching away. My friends finally had to put napkins over their cups to keep the girls at bay.

* protesting when my friend Jenn held up a flannel nightgown and sarcastically suggested it for a difficult person on my friend Tina's Christmas list. I turned to see her holding the same gown I was just saying I wanted for myself. We have been friends long enough for them to burst into laughter and tell me to get real and to not make my husband suffer. They then tried to convince me to get something racier. I said maybe later...like 20 lbs and many workouts later... I still don't see what is wrong with a big flannel, red tartan flannel nightgown.

* buying a tea, magazine, and chocolate and scurrying back down to the vehicle deck on the ferry as I was coming home... to read...and suck on chocolate... and sip tea...in peace and quiet.

*meeting my sweet family at a old local Chinese restaurant after I drove off the ferry. It was a classic Canadian moment, folks: chowing down to Chinese while the snow drifted around outside and all of us patrons cheered on Hockey Night In Canada.

good times. good to be home.

Sounds like you had a good time. Right now a flannel nightie would be most welcome- I can't believe how cold it is!

RYC/Q-----Yes, Mom is alive and well. Although I did call this morning to see if they still were after they read my post. I guess is was good that my sister had taken that leap a few years earlier. She warmed them up for me. ;) The red bird story was one a read a few years ago. Since then they have had a special place in my heart. When I see one I take it as a reminder from Him that he is with me and thinking of me.

I would have loved to have been on your girls weekend. It sounds like ya'll have a great time. Laughing with our girls is like nothing else.
And as far as the night gown....I would not have picked it only becasue I don't like have my vightgown wrapped around me as i toss and turn. And come winter time a tshirt and warm ups become my wardrobe. ;)
I know, I need to think about hubby. But girl if I am cold I can't sleep. And no sleep does not fair well for those who have to live with me. I think hubby is o.k with the warm ups.

I am glad you had some time away....it sounds like you had a real time of refreshing.
