Hi girls. I got my tubes tied about 3 years ago and have had crumby, heavy periods that have me running to the bathroom a lot, and leave me anemic. I finally went ahead and am going in for this procedure on Thursday. It sounds pretty safe. Apparently, the worst case scenario is that the instrument could puncture my uterus. My biggest concern was that I would do or say something stupid while under IV sedation. This is a small town, and the last time I went in for surgery, both of the ER nurses lived on my street I was knocked out that time, so didn't have to worry. So, I share my fears with my cousin, which was a BIG mistake, because she was the opposite of comforting. She very unsympathetically cackled that I would probably say something embarrassing but most likely would lie there, all relaxed, passing gas and giggling. (she didn't say it quite so eloquently, but I am trying to keep my blog from going completely redneck gutter diving.) I gasped in horror when she said that as I hadn't thought of that particular bodily function that may go awry while my guard is down! The image has been stuck in my head for 48 hours now. I just hope that what happens in the OR stays in the OR!
Any funny stories you can share to make me feel better?

Good for you!
I went through this for 3 years before I finally let them take my uterus.
No funny stories here...but I am glad that there is an option to help you.
My friend had something similar done and she has been very happy she did it.
But just in case there are any "situations" in the room....maybe you should lay off the beans. ;)
I'm sure everyone will be pleased with that choice. LOL
Hmmmm, no funny stories here. As you well know life in a small town has its downside. How I hate seeing Dr K in the grocery store! Ugh.
I'm thinking about having that same procedure done in a year or two for the same reason. (I'm on the pill right now and it is working.) Let me know how it goes!!!
I took Scott in to have his esophagus stretched a few years ago. He had the meds that make you forget but not really be completely out. He kept saying over and over,
"I think they gave me warm socks." "I think maybe they microwaved the socks they gave me."
"Did I tell you they gave me warm socks to wear?"
It was hilarious.
I threw up on a nurse when I was walking out of the building when I got my wisdom teeth out. I bet she enjoyed that.
No other good stories for you.
your cousin is a HOOT! farty girl! oh how i love your honesty. and, hmm...makes me feel better for *holding my own* among a house full of guys!
okay, enough gas talk. i looked at that website and all i could focus on was the "pre-menopausal" wording. are we really that close? who's gonna be worried about toots when we have hot flashes!
It sounds less invasive than the D&C I had a little over a month ago. I hope that it helps you.
Believe me - whatever happens has happened before. The doctors and nurses are professionals and have seen and heard it all *smile*
I did say the "f" word in front of my mother once when I was 18 and sedated! Yikes. That's pretty funny - NOW.
HA! I'm laughing outloud and my husband is asking me "WHAT?" Nope... not sharing with him.
Last time I was sedated (OK, the only time I've been sedated), I went off on the doctor about how much I hate Dr.s. Don't remember it, but it sounds like me. Heck, that's something I'd do sober... he he. ~K
I had never in all my days heard of this procedure, but am ALL THE WAY interested to hear how it turns out... you'll tell, right?
ps- you totally crack me up!
ROFLOL...We love a little redneck gutter talk every once in awhile, girlie!
A friend of mine had this procedure done over the summer and it has worked like a CHARM for her.
