What do You Think?

So, the other night, The Skipper and I went for a lovely evening walk. We came upon some moms walking home from our school's PAC meeting (oops! I obviously didn't attend). They laughingly informed me that I had won the grand PAC prize for the whole school year- a gift certificate for two to a REALLY RITZY restaurant in town- one that I have been wanting to go to at some point this summer- but it is so expensive! So my first thought was "AWESOME!, but then I felt kinda guilty. If you remember, our kids have only been at public school since January this year. I attended a PAC meeting that month, but have not been back. I felt kinda on the outside of the loop at that meeting, and as life is already better, I haven't made an effort to go back. At each meeting, whoever is in attendance gets to put their name in for a year end draw. Voila, that is how I ended up winning! I have a friend who is a regular at those meetings, and she said that when my name was drawn, the general vibe was "who is that?" or "have she EVER come to a meeting before?". As they were voicing their less than impressed thoughts, my friend spoke up and announced that she was having breakfast with me on Thursday, and would personally deliver the certificate to me. Apparently, the snide remarks stopped immediately after she said that! We laughed over it this morning when she gave it to me as she further teased me by saying that she reminded the principal who I was by saying that I was the homeschooler who put my kids in half way through the year, therefore the school hadn't got any funding for my kids. Thankfully she didn't actually say it- that would have gone over like a ton of bricks.

I can understand how they would desire someone more involved to receive this gift. My mom tells me to keep it because I am wonderful and work so hard! (she's slightly biased)

Maybe I should give it back, what do you think? In all fairness, I should tell you that I will probably keep it, but I am curious to hear your opinion.

(just in case you are wondering, no, I didn't post this because it was a nice pic of me. Cause it's not. But despite the zit and sleep deprivation bags under my eyes, (if you just clicked to enlarge the pic to see the zit, you are...just like me.) I thought I would add it anyways, cause I'm just brave that way.

Well obviously you should keep it!! You won it fair and square.

If The Skip isn't available to go with you, I'm sure I can make it!

Thank you for a lovely birthday breakfast today. It was delicious and the company was wonderful!!!

Would you feel uneasy if someone else that had only attended one meeting won it instead? Would you feel like they should give it back or that they, like you, won it fair and square?

Girl you had better keep it!
Consider it pay for all those years you home schooled without pay.
Or consider it another little nod from God for following His direction and putting the children in public school.
Enjoy!

The GIFT Certificate is yours. Enjoy it! And maybe a nice note of thanks to the committee/board would be a pleasing act for everyone!
