I have journeyed through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea,
By faith alone, sight unknown,
And yet His eyes were watching me.
The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging sea,
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.
I've had visions and I've had dreams;
Well I've even held them in my hands,
But I never knew those dreams could slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand.
O, the Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging seas.
O, the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

Now I have been young, but I am older now.
O and there has been beauty these eyes have seen;
But it was in the night, when I faced the storms of my life.
Oh, that's where God proved His love to me.
The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
I have fallen, fallen down on my knees
as I faced the raging seas.
But the Anchor holds;
O, in spite of the storm.
I said I've fallen, fallen down on my knees
as I faced the raging seas;
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm

I have a loved one facing the storm today. He has his first court date to try to get some more time with his son; to squelch some of the insanity he has tolerated in order to appease his estranged wife. We are praying that God will come through today.

If you are having a day where you could easily drown in unanswered questions or overwhelming fears, remember that you have security in Jesus. He will lift you out of the "raging sea" of this world and provide you refuge and peace. Your trials may not disappear, but you will be looking at them from a place of safety and security, knowing that as long as you choice Jesus as your captain, you will find refuge for your soul.

update: Please pray that the person God has laid on my heart to share with would agree to come for a visit tonight. Here is a question that I am challenging any Christians to answer here today. I wanted to lie about it when the speaker asked for a show of hands on Sunday, as I was ashamed of myself: In the last year, have you actually opened the Word of God, and shared the good news of salvation with anyone? I could not honestly say that I had done that, using my Bible. If you haven't, I would appreciate your honesty in telling me why.

I haven't. I've found people around here are hostile if you whip out a bible to show them anything. I get a much better response by befriending them, being a light to them, and gradually they will open up.

Then if the opportunity arises and they seek me out, and it has happened, then I can show them cool stuff in the bible.

But they have to be ready.

You know - that's a HUGE question... and this is a good post. I can tell there's a fire in your belly. :-)

Those in my sphere of influence are really quite few. The few that I've had regular contact with claim to know Jesus already. They're just not walking in victory. I'm trying to encourage them in that...but it's interesting that they don't want to listen.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will hover around the person you want to share with to ready them for the spoken word of God. :-)

I carry a Bible with me everywhere... but whip it out and witness?

it doesn't occur to me often enough... I totally need to be!

thanks for the reminder!

I'll be on the watch this very day
