How did I get my job as the domestic engineer of a household of 6? Did I miss an exam or something? I think for sure I missed some kind of seminar. I just told you about the near accidental poisoning of my husband as a result of not cleaning the fridge (it wasn't THAT old, you people!). Here are 2 more things that are making me cringe today:
1) I just logged on to our library site to find that we have 20 overdue books!!! (by just a few days, but golly, that can add up!)
2) my 8 year old son had a note in his piano notebook yesterday: "would be able to play better if his nails were shorter". I reacted by grabbing his hand and taking a look- yep, not just long, but "boy" nails too, if you know what I mean. In my defense, this kid has super growing nails- they grow so fast- but it is not like I am going to go explain that to his teacher, even though I want to- that will just make me seem more strange.

hilarious post that I identified with WAY too much! I bet my library fine is more than your's though...eek! nothing to be braggin' about! ahh, life as mothers who get the guff for everything that's not done! gotta love it.
totally understand the nail thing. With thee boys whose nails grow SUPER FAST and hate to have them cut I am always looking at them and thinking "oh my what would someone think if they saw them". You are normal - we all let things fall through the cracks.
Hope you do not have to take a loan out to pay the library fines. Glad your husband is okay. ;o)
*LOL*
totally identify. Our problem also arises when I log in to renew our books - and forget that mini-me also has a library card ... and it ends up being her card that gets the fines.
G man's nails grow really fast - and they're perfect (Not clean, just shaped perfect) and i've been tempted more than once to paint them. They are that perfect.
So you don't have to explain it to the teacher because we understand. *L*
oh the nails on Jackelope!! Atrocious! The older two chew theirs off, but really, I am a domestic pariah. Always wondering what the heck I'm doing pretending to be anyone's mother!
Julia just got her first library card so I will have to keep an eye on it. And she bites her nails(gross)and I have tried everything to get her to stop.Got any ideas for a good bribe?
I just got the best news... our library is accepting canned goods this week and every can you bring in takes $1 off your fines! Isn't that brilliant?? Scott took a load of food today. :)
I often wonder how I got my job, too. I can't believe I am allowed to assume responsibility for all these people when I can barely remember to brush my teeth daily.
Just makes me lean harder on Him!
yes, it's 10 pm here too. *waves*
also, your fridge cleaning counts for sure!
Just about everyday.
What I am enjoying baout the blogging world is the fact that now I know I am not alone when I do things that are not "competant".
I am lucky that the local librarian is a friend of mine. My rates often get reduced to about half, but even so, my overdue fines paid is more than I want to share.
Cindy P :)
Don't feel bad. Seriously! I think the most we've had overdue at the library was 36 books. And a couple of months ago at my son's violin lesson his teacher whipped out a pair of nail clippers and asked me to clip Josiah's nails! Talk about an embarassing mommy moment. LOL
