Works for Me Wednesday - Learning Games

I thought I would share a couple of games we have in the house that we pull out and enjoy. The two oldest really enjoy these Professor Noggins games. They are made in here in BC, Canada and there are several different ones that cover many different topics- everything to American history, to space, to geography, etc. We play the Canadian History and the Canadian Geography a lot. Their favorites probably are Ancient Civilizations and Creatures of Myth and Legend. The premise of these card games is so simple. You are asked a question pertaining to the topic- an easy one for children and advanced kids or adults can choose a hard question. If you get the answer right, you collect the card. If not, the card goes back in the pile and will be chosen again by yourself or another player later in the game. It's great for reading skills, cooperation, sportsmanship, etc as well.

This game is called Monkey Math, and I picked it up for 1/2 price a few weeks ago. J (age 4) really gets a kick out of it. It would be great for preschool age up to early elementary. You can see that the monkey there is a scale and you need to have the same amount of bananas on each side in order for the scale to be even. Great for adding skills.

If anyone wants more info on any of these games, let me know.

Way to go on the class.
I don't hear you screaming about sore muscles--maybe you are in better shape than you thought?
Exercising and balls? Good luck!
Avoid the sticks.:)
Proud of you girl.

Well Sharon, I actually thought that I might have to hire a "pinch" typist, as I was not sure I would have the use of my arms today after this morning's class. I just thought that I had done enough whining for a while, so I didn't mention it. I am not in bad shape, but I used muscles today that i don't normally use- I was worried about walking through town with the exercise ball. We had to run through town holding on to them and moving them all around using different arm movements. It is challenging, but invigorating.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had never heard of these games before but will look for them now. Games are such a great way to learn aren't they? :)

We love to play games and I've never heard of these. Love new tips! I'm going to try and track them down at my bargain stores.

Thanks!

Games... My kids love them, so I buy them. My kids beg me to play them... but I never do. Then they sit on the shelves mocking my terrible mothering. The funny thing is, I'll probably buy these now. ~Karlie

PS. Great job on the class! Just thinking about exercize is often more than I can bare.
