Made Me Cry...

..to read the comments on my 10 year old's report card. It felt like a ray of hope shining through in my less than stellar parenting journey...

"It is a pleasure having K in my class. He is a kind and respectful boy, patient with his peers and always polite to his teachers. It is wonderfully evident that K is living out his faith...."

There was more positive comments about his playful sense of humour, and some constructive criticism on focusing that humour at the correct times (this teacher has him pegged), but it was that last line that curled all the way down into my heart. I long for my kids to reflect Godly character, to stand up for their God, despite their parents being flawed in this area. I have always told my kids that the most important part of their report cards are the areas that show CHARACTER. I know that this child isn't perfect, I know that this is not a pat-myself-on the-back moment, but, I praise God that He has a grip on my son, and that my son is gripping back. (and in case this has made you feel inferior about your children, let me be real and tell you that he was asked to leave his Sunday school class yesterday for goofing around...).
