Today I Felt a Bit Like This Poor Turtle.

Do you see him there? Ever felt that way yourself- like you are balancing on a real wobbly pile of junk? (btw, this was how one of my boys decided to clean his room a while ago- some of you might remember this pic).

God's Word is becoming more real to me at such times, and for that, I am thankful. I am also thankful for the sense of humour He gave me. I may have slightly warped it with my own strangeness, but laughter is so comforting, don't ya think? And it's the little things that get me, ya know?

Like when I read to my littles about the solar system today, which of course involved the word Uranus... I know, some of you may be frowning in disgust right now, but that has amused me since I caught onto the silly joke in gr 8...it gets me...every time.

Or how I got the inside giggles in Bible study tonight because I was too hot and tired and was overwhelmed by the scripture memory. I had brought my slippers with me and wanted to take them off as I was sweating, but was scared that they would reek to high heaven. At least I was adult enough to sit there and act like a ninny inwardly so that no one else noticed.

And then I noticed the screen saver K put on today:

I laughed out loud, which made him do his great big grin, and great giggle, which made me giggle, etc. I told him that maybe having that pic in front of me would remind me to eat less sugar.

I know that many of you are facing crisises in your own families or to someone you love, or maybe you are just feeling overwhelmed. So, come on and join me in some joy and tell me what made you laugh today, or at least in the last week. It doesn't have to be witty or clever to share it- hello, look at my examples!!!

Julia had a concert today after school. A composer/director came in to train and lead a choir from over 5 schools in our area. The music was great..the kids did a great job. What got me was the director...he was so demonstrative with his face...trying to get the kids to sing the right thing. You know how sometimes when you are feeding a little one you can find yourself opening your mouth as you head for theirs with the spoon? I had a little laugh at myself in embarrassment when I realized I was moving my mouth to mimic his. Goodness I hope no one noticed...but hey...maybe they got a good laugh too. :)
Life is tough...but it is good to remember to laugh.

I feel like the turtle.

J-man was laying into this brother like a windmill. Fists flying arms flailing.

Being the eloquent mom that I am -- I sputtered.."What are you ... Why are you .... HITTING your brother??"

"He asked for it."

Aha. I see. Well..stop it.

Yeah...some days I feel very ineffective.

MiniMe picked out some leopard print rain boots.

My friend Mindy made me laugh. Just because we have so much in common.

You made me laugh because you're awesome.

I love that you have a great sense of humor. I'm always always cracking jokes. Lately I feel like that's ALL I do. Get serious!! Not a chance. :-) Which you can see carried over today into our scat cookies. Oh my, still laughing!
