"Nobody ever outgrows scripture; the Book widens and deepens with our years”

I heard the above quote on Sunday and finally remembered to look it up. It was by the great preacher, Charles Spurgeon. While looking this one up, I found many others that made an impression:

"A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble."

"Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength."

"I would go to the deeps a hundred times to cheer a downcast spirit. It is good for me to have been afflicted, that I might know how to speak a word in season to one that is weary."

"Of two evils, choose neither."

"The Lord gets his best soldiers out of the highlands of affliction."

I'm just gonna put it out there that I am feeling a little downcast today- hormones plus some anxiety- causing circumstances. I would love you to leave a comment, 'cause interaction with friends cheers me up. I am trying to fight off the impulse to erase these last few sentences as a little voice is telling me I sound pathetic and needy, but I know God has put us here to encourage each other.
ps- if you are like me and want a laugh, just go here. It is still cracking me up in a humiliatingly funny kind of way!

Just pack your bag and come on over... we'll have a girl night while DH is out for the rest of the evening. We can watch a movie, eat popcorn and maybe even bake some cookies with the almost free cookie mix I bought today! And I promise that while I like you alot, I won't share my cold with you. LOL :)

Hi, Jane! Great quotes.
I'm glad you didn't delete those last couple of sentences! I hope that you're feeling better. :)

So I noticed you recommended Calvary Chapel churches on Conservachick's blog. Do you go to a Calvary Chapel church? Have I asked you that before? We do, and have for the past 7 years. They're not perfect, but I love the balanced theology, and like you said..through the Bible, line by line.

I'm praying for you!

Grace and Peace,
Angel
