7 years ago today, amidst family, friends, decadent desserts, fragrant gardens, laughter, and dancing, I married my true love. I don't think our feet touched the ground that day. (In the interest of keepin' it real- the honeymoon didn't go on forever- there have been days that those once floating feet have wanted to drop kick the other partner in the butt!) BUT, back to my romantic blatherings- when I hear the song " Bless the Broken Road" I think of my life and the speech my dad that night that alluded to the wrong turn I had taken with my first marriage, but how God used what He wouldn't necessarily have chosen for me, and brought me full circle from a time of heartbreak for us all, to a time of joy and celebration together! In many ways, it wouldn't have been so sweet if we hadn't experienced the pain.

Bless The Broken Road

"I set out on a narrow way many years ago

Hoping I would find true love along the broken road

But I got lost a time or two

Wiped my brow and kept pushing through

I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars

pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through

I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you

But you just smile and take my hand

You've been there you understand

It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Now I'm just rolling home

Into my lover's arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you."

To hear the song ( most of you probably have- but if you haven't, go listen, 'cause it's really pretty), go here:

Jeremiah 29:11
" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
