Some Halfmoon Health Advice- free even!!!

If you get your tubes tied and subsequently begin to have really heavy periods to the point that the level of iron stored in your body (ferritin) is too low, and your doctor tells you to go on supplements or eat foods rich in iron for 3 months, and you sorta do, but not for the full 3 months, your next blood tests might show that you are still a little low on iron. If your doctor recommends still upping your iron through diet/supplements as you might start to shed hair if you don't, it is best to keep this a priority in your life, even if you are very busy and have a hard time remembering to take those silly iron supplements 2x/day. CAUSE, if you don't,... months later, when you think that the problem has passed, you might start shedding lots of hair, which will cause you to rush to the doctor for more blood tests to discover the problem, only to be told that your ferritin levels are lower and it will take 3 months of extra iron to build them back up again. You may then look at your hair in dismay and wonder how much you will have left by September.... Yikes!!!!!

Okay, I am taking your advice, as if it was a gift form above. (It likely was.) I am a shedder, though I have not gone bald yet. :) I never heard it could be related to the iron count. My pills are sitting at the pharmacy, where they have been since the doctor called in the prescription almost 2 weeks ago. I will go there and get them and start right away!

wow, that's interesting. I got my tubes tied and have a similar period problem. I wonder if I should take some iron because I am not losing my hair...again!

You can blame the first time on anti depressants.
