Best and Worst

Well, it was a busy weekend. On Friday, my daughter, mom, and I took the ferry over to the Big City to buy some new clothes for my daughter, who insists on outgrowing all her clothes! She was so happy and managed to gasp out "I'm ECSTATIC!" as we left early in the morning. To say that she loves drama is an understatement. We managed to get her some decent priced clothes without much searching, a modest, inexpensive bathing suit that fit her changing body, I got a quilt for our bed that I LOVE- for half price (yes, all you quilters can feel sorry for this pathetic sewing person who has to buy her quilts from Linens and Things), AND, we also got time to hit Purdy's for a lil' treat! It was a great time- a good time that will be long remembered and hopefully repeated often.

We had two to three extra kids overnight for the weekend as some of my family was out of town and needed help with childcare. We had a little game of baseball in our backyard as we had 9 people in the house and the evening was sunny and beautiful. The kids spent a lot of time through out the afternoons making mud, dams, and streams in the dirt. I remember loving that myself as a child, so I don't often stop them, unless we are conserving water in a dry summer.

Today is a non instructional day at school, so my daughter is off doing her baby sitter's course. I remember doing it when I was 11, too. They will go over things like being home alone, discipline tactics, first aid, and diaper changing. My daughter will pass that part with flying colors. She could probably diaper with one hand tied behind her back!

So, it feels like this is a rather aimless post right now. Just pretend that we are chatting over tea or coffee on my back deck- most of my conversation is probably random and aimless, even in RL! Tell me something about your weekend- best and worst parts. My worst part was probably when we drove to our friends for a bbq, and realized upon unloading the van, that we had left Little M (age 2 3/4) back at home. Thankfully, they live about a minute from our house and he was happily playing with the hose in the backyard when my hubby raced back to get him. Sheesh, poor 4th child!

Crap. I already commented, but I think it got sent into the bloggy black hole. I HATE when that happens!!
Anyway, what I said was:
It sounds like you really did have a lovely weekend...well except for leaving the toddler..LOL! Ah, well, it happens to the best of us.

We had a nice weekend. We went camping. Again. And truthfully, I am over camping for awhile, just because it is so much work to get there and then home again.
NOW, lets see if it works this time...

Sounds like you had a fun weekend. I would have freaked if I would had left one of kids. Glad you were not far from home! :o)

Our weekend was chalked full, not much down time and two of my boys are sick. Good part even though it was a busy weekend - we were able to get A LOT done around our house. So it's clean and de-cluttered. I love a clean house.

We are getting ready to have to do the clothes thing with Julia too.
She has had a growth spurt both in body and feet. She is 10 and wears a size 8 1/2!
Poor thing I didn't go there till after my first child. Of course I have boats now but these things happen.
Good thing--as soon as she catches up we can share shoes!
This weekend was nothing exciting. Julia had a friend over and we went to see Nim's Island.
The owner is having our oven replaced and I am having a kick sitting here typing listening to him talk to HIMSELF in the kitchen. He is asking himself questions and answering.:0

I have never left one of my kids behind before--but at least you were right down the road.

It must be a fourth child thing. Mom left me at a friend's house once, I was a few weeks old. On the way home, she thought "I am forgetting something." When she got home the phone was ringing and my Auntie Jo was asking "Did you forget something?".
Mom replied that she thought so, but couldn't think of what.
"THE BABY" was the answer.
:) 38 years, and though I had no memory, I remember the story. :)

Thanks for the chat and the snack. I love visiting with you.
