Gramma Jane

I love being a parent (it should be an understood thing that sometimes I want to pinch my kids heads off- doesn't mean I don't love them). I think I am going to really love being a grandparent, too. Besides the fact that I love a cup of tea, flannel nightgowns, slippers, and my idea of a good time is going to the library, I think I will make a fab gramma!!! I watched my parents today when they came over for a visit- the first thing they both did was climb under the blanket fort that the two littles had built in the family room and then while giggling, insisted that I call the kids inside so they could surprise them. Much jumping, giggling, and wrestling occured when the littles found them- and that was mostly from Mom and Dad! My mother than enjoyed a game of chase with the kids around the house (it is an understood thing that Gramma is allowed to run in the house, but otherwise we try to do most of that outside to avoid crashes and bangs), while my dad laid down on the couch and had a little cat nap. Wouldn't it be awesome to be Fun Gramma that comes for a visit instead of Fun Mom that can turn into Tired/Grouchy/Overwhelmed Mom? I must say that my parents paid their dues in raising 4 rambunctious children. It is heart warming to see how much thought and effort they put into our children now.

*still laughing*

yep. That sounds SO like my parents; they are ALL about pleasing/entertaining the grandkids. They come over and I'm like "Hey, have at it. Knock yourselves out. I'LL go take a catnap, mkay?"

One day... WE'll be older and surprisingly more energetic. You know, so WE can chase around our kids' kids. It'll be grand.

But for now. I'm so going to take a bubble bath and relax.

You will make a wonderful gramma! My mom always says that being a gramma means you get all the love and fun but never have to be the bad guy. Sounds like a pretty good gig to me!

*sigh* In God's timing, I think perhaps being a gramma will be the greatest gift of all!

Sometimes I think I'll be a better grandma than I am mom. Or at least more fun! :)
