I have been talking to the kids about how God has commanded us to share the good news of the Gospel with others- that it is not just our special secret, and have been encouraging them to ask God to show them those moments when they can tell others about Christ.
Today I had a bit of a dilemma: 8 year old K has a friend over for a playdate. He comes from a lovely family, but I know that they are not believers. K asked if he could show his buddy a cartoon video called The Last Supper, Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. I paused for a moment and said the perhaps we could wait until his friend had asked his parents if it was ok. My thoughts were that I did not want to have our little friend going home with questions about God being nailed to a tree and drinking blood, etc. I want to keep communication lines open with this family and do not want them leery of sending their kids over here. At the same time, I don't want my son to think that it was wrong to want to do that or to be fearful of witnessing. He had a great compromise though: Veggie Tales!
What do you think? ( there is some history here- my daughter once scared their's - telling her about hell and Satan. The mom was very gracious and mentioned it to me, which I appreciated. I had to explain to Miss Fire n' Brimstone how scary this sounds to those who don't have the same understanding of spiritual matters.)

Ditto what Emily said.
8 yrs is a great age to start imparting little things and building relationship - but to suddenly view the crucifixion might just have put far too many questions into his tiny brain. Especially if the family is not in a place where they can feed his spirit.
Veggie Tales is a great compromise!!! Especially since they're now on Qubo (at least here. It's on NBC.)
Of course, it would be just like God to use the kids to reach the parents. :-) Have fun!!
Hi...
Just found your lovely blog and noticed your from Canada too! So great when I find a fellow Canadian!! :)
Originally from Newfoundland , now living in Alberta.
Have a blessed day!
Candy :)
I think you did a great job.
And way to go with the Veggie Tales.
When I was little I was one of those fire and brim stone girls. :)
God has mellowed me a little.
I agree...well done.
Jane, what a great way to handle this. I agree, with the nature of what you were going to show the child, sensitivity was in order. But hopefully there will be an opportunity in the future for it - maybe if you have a chance ahead of time to talk to the parent. Blessings, enjoy the rest of Sunday!

I have changed things up a bit. The same girl that did your blog did two different headers for me with the picture of my girls. I can change them out as the moods swing. :)
And they do.:)
They are my hormonal headers. Ha!
Thanks for enjoying my mood swings.
