Barlow Girls- Mirror /Janiekins has a Moment of Clarity

I had one of those AHA! moments today while out for walk. I was grooving and listening to the words on the mp3 player our daughter got for Christmas. As I have already stated, we are not a technologically advanced family- we have a stereo, a dvd player, and a tv- that is about it. We just have basic cable, and our tv would not be considered that big to some. So, it was a stretch for me to buy our 11 year old a mp3 player in the first place-"what about her hearing? What if she walks in front of a car, etc" With help from my ever helpful bro in law, I loaded a bunch of awesome Christian tunes on it on Christmas Eve- Barlow Girls, Superchick, DC Talk, Toby Mac, Reliant K, etc. She was thrilled, needless to say. Fast forward 2 weeks... Miss A comes home from school and informs us that everyone in her class brings their mp3 players and listens to them at break and during free time in class. Ever anal me was like, "What really, how do you socialize? How do you get your work done if everyone is in their own worlds? What if someone steals these things?" (never mind that hers was about 35 dollars-STILL- $35 is $35 dollars! Anyhoo, as you can guess, I was not in favor of her taking hers to school. I have been rethinking this as my sis pointed out that Miss A will be listening to her friend's anyways. hmmmm.. I thought about that and then today, while I was hustling around the neighbourhood appreciating the positive messages in the songs uploaded on her mp3 player, I had that lightening flash moment where I thought "hey, what is NOT to like about her listening to such strong Christian messages in her ears whenever possible at school. Awesome! This is awesome! The teachers and school are not allowed to mention Christ, but our daughter can have that message in her ears while she is there!" She has always listened to the words in songs and this can be great tool while she is out of our home! I am so excited to send this precious piece of technology with her tomorrow! Thank you God for revealing to me what my stubborn head wasn't getting!!!

That is cool that they can take them to school. In our area it is a no, no.

I do hope you box gets to you in one piece. The other box I sent was only going to Colorado and it took about 5 days. But I would have thought you would have gotten it by now. When they asked Keith what was in it he said a book since he did not know--it has other stuff too of course--I can't imagine that would have slowed it down.
That or some security guard is enjoying a cup of hot tea or apple cider and the book.
When I sent something to New Zealand one time it took over a month. Maybe it is because hubby just sent it by regular mail.On gaurentee--when you get it it will be worth the anticipation.
I sure hope you don't have a sneaky neighbor.
Or maybe they did not know what BC was and they sent it to some place in Timbuktu.:) But one relief is that your card got to you.

There ya go! I think that is a great thought. I encourage my granddaughter to listen to them often. She loves such a wide variety of music at 11.. luckily most of it is classical,or christian. But still its good to have that peace and joy that the praise brings and to remind us of how much he loves us.

Yeah, but now what will you listen to on walks? ~K

PS. My 11 year old has one too, AND takes it to school.

What a sweet sign that she is cared for by Him while away. I'm so glad you have peace about your decision. You've written about some of the signs of confirmation you recieved, and that's really cool.

I love that mirror song! I always have. And I love that you are thinking of infiltrating the school with christian music. Awesome.
