This One's Getting Coal For Sure!

When I asked the kids if they wanted to write letters to Santa, our 8 year old K joined in and then handed me the following with a smirk on his face:

In case you are having a hard time reading it, the first part says": "Hello Mom and Dad: I know that you pretend to not know who Santa is when it's really you. Now I suppose you're wondering what I would like for Christmas, here's my list: (insert big long list of toys here.)"

The first part cracked me up, though outwardly I just shook my head and said "Oh boy, Santa is NOT going to like this!" This was mainly for the benefit of our 4 year old who was on the fourth page of his letter. If they ask me directly, I tell them that Santa is make believe, but we have a lot of fun pretending that he is real around Christmas time. I don't know how much longer Mr J will still think Old St. Nick is real, but I am enjoying his enthusiasm this year- a couple of weeks ago, I found him setting out a plate of cookies for Santa and a tall glass of milk. When I mentioned that it would be lots and lots of sleeps till Santa found them, he shrugged and said " Oh well, I guess I could eat them then!" Hmmm... who is fooling who here???

Hehe! That's cute!

Our 8-year old knows that we're Santa, but she keeps playing along for the little ones. :-)

I hope all goes well at your son's game tonight!

We never really did the Santa thing. But for a few years we would put a few presents unwrapped under the Christmas tree after they went to bed Christmas eve. It was fun to see their eyes light up.
Something in the "magic" changes when they start to get older.I do miss that.
