This is a 4 ingredient chicken dish that is always yummy and satisfying. It is my token dish that I make for new moms, post surgery, etc.
Rita's Russian Chicken
1 can whole cranberries
1 250 ml bottle of Russian dressing (the smaller one)
1 package onion soup mix ( because I try to avoid MSG in my cooking, I just dump in dried onion flakes)
Mix together and pour over chicken pieces. I find that I prefer bone in pieces with this recipe (thighs, drumsticks, etc). This can be done in the oven or crock pot. When I give myself enough time, I cover it and cook at 300 degrees for a couple of hours. When I am more pinched for time, I do it at 350 for an hour. I guess some of you may not use the same measurements or temp as i have here, but hopefully you can just translate. Serve over rice- this makes a nice sauce. Yum, yum.

That is truly different. You know how you hear about the same dishes all the time? I have never heard of that one. I haven't heard anyone using cranberries out of Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Now Mom has a cranberry pudding that is to die for. It is really like a cream cake and it has fresh cranberries and a butter cream sauce that is put on the cake hot.
This sounds good I'll have to try it.
My stand by dish is my lasagna. Everybody loves it and thinks it is so hard--got them fooled. :)
I know the ingredients sound a bit weird, but it is really tasty.
I'm pretty sure I've had this dish a few times. Very yummy!
Yes Kathleen, you have this dish every time you come to a family potluck!
That DOES sound yummy!! :)
Sounds yummy! My husband gets very sick from MSG, so we don't use it at our house either. It is very hard to avoid when we are out--a lot of times, restaurant staff doesn't even know what it is. Thanks for stopping by--I enjoyed reading about your first day of school. Sounds familiar.
