How to Make a Mouth-watering Steak

This is where you, my blogger friends, come in. I need your advice on how to awe my hubby with my bbq abilities. I am horrible at doing steaks and I know he would love to come home to a big, juicy yummy one. I usually burn them into hockey pucks (see pic below to get the gist), which I guess is fitting as I am Canadian and hockey is our national sport. Anyhoo, if any of you can help with the right cut to buy, a great marinade, and some detailed instructions, that would be most appreciated!

Well you have probably already had dinner by now-but here is how we did it in the restaurant business. Center cut beef fillet is the best. But if you don't want to spend the money you can use sirloin steaks. I use them a lot- they sear great in a sautee pan.
As far as the grill--don't put anything on it until the coals are white---or if you are using gas--low to medium flame.
I don't use a marinade. I make a basting sauce that we used in the restaurant business. It is great on almost all types of meat. First your meat should not be cold right out of the frig. Second salt, pepper and garlic power before you put it on the flame. This is the sauce I use. Melt one stick butter, a fourth of a cup of lemon juice, about four shots of Worcestershire sauce, some rosemary a couple of shots of Tabasco sauce and one tablespoon chopped garlic.
When you place meat on the grill you should leave it about three minutes and then flip it. Baste, wait three minutes and then flip and baste. If you use sirloin it probably won't take more than about 8 to 10 minutes. This basting sauce is great on corn on the cob also.
Hope this helps.

We are a nation that adores braais(barbeques). When we do steaks, we make sure the tenderised steak has been marinated in a tasty sauce for at least an hour or two.The cut is usually fillet or sirloin. And the fire must not be extremely hot. Turn the steaks, only when you see the juices oozing out of the top.
Have fun and eat well!
