I Stretched My Brain Tonight

I tried something new. Hubby and I went to a church Rook tournament. We had never played before, but I was game (no pun intended). I was functioning on two hours sleep so I was feeling fairly loopy, but I did my best to pay attention (didn't really work), and to learn some strategy (furrow eyebrows, look pensive, and just wing it!) I behaved myself very well, as I did not know many people I played with, and was too tired to be my usual witty self. (ha ha) My daughter phoned about 5 times through out the evening to report on how MR J, #3 child, was treating the new babysitter. I hope the poor teenager will come back! (Nothing too serious- he just wouldn't stay in bed.)

What I really like to play are more creative games like Pictionary, Charades, Scattergories, and Cranium. What are some of your favorite games? Maybe I will find some new ones for the family.

One of our favorite games around here is Sequence. Or Sequence for Kids. And then there's a card game called "Munchkin" which is a hoot and a half.

I wanted to thank you so much for you comment the other day. You made me laugh!! I'm glad I'm not too highly intellectual. I have such a problem with my punctuation....I type like I talk out loud. I need to get the book "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" and remind myself about the punctuation rules. *L* That might make me feel better. And possibly use less "..." in my posts. *LOL*

It took me a minute to remember that Rook is a card game. Have you tried Skip-Bo?? It is one of my favorites...I used to be really good at it!

I am really not a game person--but I do like to play skip-bo. If others are playing games I will play but I don't really get into card games like solitaire or poker.
It probably does not help that my husband grew up playing cards with his mom and it was a religious taboo in my family. My parents have since changed about the whole card thing.

Have your tried Apples to Apples? We have the Jr. Edition. It is a lot of fun. The kids play it one their own and we play together.

Taboo is one of my favorites too.
