Spring Reading

I love to read: I have my favorite authors and I am also willing to try new ones. I love to have books recommended to me. I will be checking out other's list and reviews. Here are some books that I have been wanting to read.

Fiction:

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This is my favorite mini series (the A&E version), so I think I should try the book.

2. The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
This is a favorite of one of my brothers.

Non- Fiction

1. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
I saw this movie as a child and was deeply impacted by it.

2. Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Ted Kimmel
I bought this book through Focus on the Family. My hubby and I are planning to attend one of his talks next month, so we should read it first.

3. Raising Kids for True Greatness by Dr. Ted Kimmel

4. My First Book of Canada by Donalda Dickie, revised by Rudiger Krause
This is a book my kids and I will be reading this spring. We have already read the first two chapters and I learned a lot.

I tried to read P & P, but could not finish it. I wanted to, but I could not make myself continue. I have truly loved other Jane Austen novels, Persuasion is probably my favourite book ever.
I'm glad you joined in the challenge!

OOH OOH OOH - you will never regret reading Pride & Prejudice. Don't listen to Coffee Mom (you know how she is!) It is a great book.
I know exactly what she means - there have been times when I couldn't get through a book in a particular season but then revisit it later - and it is totally different. Maybe you're just not meant to read it at that time.

Yes! I have definitely seen the A&E version of the movie - it was great - and extremely accurate to the book. The book - as usual - develops the characters in more depth. I always enjoy that better if I read the book first - and feel I view the movie in a different way than those that haven't read it.
Also - if you like musicals - my daughters (teenagers) and I loved Bride & Prejudice - a musical version set in the culture of India. It was neat.
