I Must Have Been Sick the Day We Studied This...

I am not sure who learns more homeschooling, me or the kids. I think that it is me, because I not only relearning all my subjects, I am also learning a lot about patience, organization, and following God's leading.

As far as academic smarts goes, it is hard to believe I was an honor student! My kids are preschool, gr.2 and gr. 5, and I am telling you, there are some concepts that I totally missed in school. When it come to Geography, History, Science, and Math, I say a lot of things like" Yes, well, (LONG PAUSE while I scramble to think or understand the text), let's research this some more", or " You know who would really enjoy talking to you about this, your dad!" (TRANSLATION: I don't care about centripical force or understand enough about the concept to explain it to you), and my personal favorites: " Honey, I could give you the answers, but I won't always be with you to do so. You need to know how to look these things up for yourself!" and " The thing is, I am not your own personal walking encyclopedia, go look it up please."
Seriously, we are learning together and I tell my kids how great it is that they can enjoy learning about things that interest them, in ways that they understand. I am also trying to show them that it is ok to ask questions and admit you don't know something, even when you are an adult.
