We have been having a real hot streak here, weather wise. J took advantage of the situation, made up a tote full of paper fans, and set up shop. His first customer was my unsuspecting Gramma, who was over for tea. He informed her that the fans were "10 and 5 dollars." She told him that $15 was a little steep. After I explained that people would probably make their own fans instead of buying such expensive ones, he decided to lower his price to $5. I finally talked him down to .25 for a plain fan, and .50 for a decorated one.He sat outside for a couple of hours, coming in to get a drink of water every now and then. Our 9 year old watched his little business minded brother from the door and remarked "well, he's determined!" I handed out quarters to his siblings and their friends and sent them out to purchase. His dad had been forewarned and came home from work desperately hot and wishing for a good fan to use... J took his business to his T ball game and looked at me after with big brown eyes and said, "Nobody wanted a fan!" That prompted a drive by Gramma and Grampa's where upon arriving, we discovered that they had been doing yard work and were in dire need of paper fans as well! So, if you are driving through Canada this summer, swing by and purchase some inexpensive air conditioning (unless he has raised the price again by then).

What a great deal! If I ever get to Canada, I will be sure to stop in for a handmade original fan to treasure forever. :) I might even have to buy a bunch as souvenirs.
I wish my 18 year old was as motivated...
That is beyond great!
I want a fan! Great business for a 6 year old. Wonder what he'll think of next?
That sounds like my son; he is such a little business man too!
Hope you are doing well! It's good to be back blogging,
Genny
I have to admit our children are very similar. My son made some designs with "wicky sticks" and his prices are steep. He has decided to take them to La. with us on our trip where his grandparents will probably pay the price. Funny.
*waves* HEY FRIEND! I'VE MISSED YOU!
Just getting caught up here, and I burst out laughing when I saw this post! My girls had an origami jumping frog business just yesterday. They fleeced me for 50 cents.
Being an entrepreneurial 6-year-old is frustrating - it's a tough marketplace out there!
I am having the same issue with my newly-7-year-old. He wants so badly to be an entrepreneur, but folks that aren't related to us really don't see those cute green eyes and sweet face in the same way we do.
Good luck to your little guy!
That is just too cute!
I had to read that out loud to our family....still visiting with Mom and Dad....we all had a good laugh.
Dad has his own business and I am sure he would love having your son as a sales person. :)
Persistence is always a good thing.
ADORABLE!! I would have bought SEVERAL fans!
Been getting caught up on your blog. Reading your last few posts just made me miss you. I hear you on the self-tanner. This is my first year to simply embrace my whiteness and freckles and go au-natural after trying every self-tanner out there.
