Fuel for a Out of Gas Heart.

Lately I have been questioning my parenting skills. Ok, not JUST lately, but especially this last week. I have had one of those "am I just beating my head against a wall and talking to deaf ears" kind of weeks- one of those "I must have really messed up somewhere along the way", kind of weeks. While I was holding a teary, 3 year old super boy with a baby blanket tied around his neck, my weary head flopped back on the rocking chair, trying to breathe through a plugged up face and chapped nose, K, our 9 year old, ventured in the room. "Mom", he queried, "where was your best friend born". I answered that his Auntie M (not the one in Wizard of Oz) was born in a house beside the park in the next town. "Right", he replied. "Well, my best, BEST friend was born....in BETHLEHEM!"...and a huge grin spread across his face. Ok, he loves to ask trick questions, but this still gave me a big thrill of delight.... I pray that it would always be true for him.

Awwww, that is sweet.

I did think however, that Auntie M was born in the barn not the house. Have I been led astray on this?

ha! Yup, it was a barn. I was trying to avoid going off on a tangent about why she was born in a barn.

God gives us the encouragement we need, just when we need it. What a blessing for your 9 year old to know that Jesus is his best friend!

Now, I need to know. Who is Auntie M and why was she born in a barn?

Hmmm, sounds like someone is doing something right. :)
Sorry you are not feeling so great...been there myself. I hope you feel better soon.
Stay warm and make yourself a cup of warm tea.
Or maybe one of your sweet ones can do it for you...time to take care of Mom. :)

M is my sil, and I think her hippy-ish parents were living in the barn? Can't quite remember that part.
