to read all your comments on my last post. I will post some a reply as some of your ideas are a bit off, for my neck of the woods anyways. Others were right or fairly accurate. I probably won't get to that till after the weekend- yesterday was my grampa's bd, today was my dad's, and tomorrow is our littlest's, as well as Father's Day. Add into that a family celebration of all the previously mentioned events and a hardball tournament ( in the POURING rain)! Anyways, I enjoyed viewing your comments- please leave one if you didn't already. Here are a few questions for you:
- Can you name some famous Canadians?
- What is the name of our national anthem?
- When you picture a "typical" Canadian, what does that person look like, how is he/she dressed, and what do they do for a living? ( I am looking forward to this answer!)
- What is the name of our one dollar coin?
- What animal is our national symbol? Yours is an eagle, right?
By the way, I like your president too. We have a Christian Prime Minister at the moment, but the media would have you believe that his conservative views are not popular. How did he manage to get elected then? Mind you, it is not a majority government right now, so there will be another election soon, and I don't know what the results will be. Everyone has a spiritual belief, I am wondering why the media gets upset when it happens to be Christian. I never hear a Buddist leader get called out over his/her beliefs. Ok, I will not get started on a rant. Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

- Can you name some famous Canadians? Uh, Dudley Do-Right. And Shawn, from Kitchener.
- What is the name of our national anthem? O Canada
- When you picture a "typical" Canadian, what does that person look like, how is he/she dressed, and what do they do for a living? ( I am looking forward to this answer!) I think that they look, dress and act just like anyone else, but they have thicker blood viscosity to put up with those winters.
- What is the name of our one dollar coin? LOL, the Loonie.
- What animal is our national symbol? Yours is an eagle, right? Yep, is yours a maple leaf? Maybe a bottle of Molson?
I have some American" questions for you?
What/where is the Mason Dixon Line?
What is the proper plural of Ya'll?
a. Ya'lls
b. Ya'll all
c. Youns
What do you never wear after Labor Day?
Who invented the weekend?
ok Jan, The Mason Dixon Line is in the South somewhere, and it is a county line originally drawn up by feuding hill billy families. (I have no idea).
I think the plural of ya'll is youns, you never wear underwear after Labour Day ( just joking- I have always heard that it was white pants, and I think that a homeschooling mother invented the weekend. ( I have no idea)
Oh so close! Don't wear white after Labor day - shoes, pants, purse, anything. Apparently it clashes with snow. And believe it or not all three plurals are used commonly for Y'all, which is, itself, a plural. My favorite is "All Y'all". It just flows so well. And believe it or not, I am a northerner.
The weekend was "invented" by the AFL-CIO labor unions in an attempt to give workers a break and set standardized hours.
Sorry that I blogjacked your blog!
I'm sorry but this Southern Girl must jump in here and clear this up.
This is how it works south of the Mason-Dixon. (For more info on the Mason Dixon go see the ever reliable Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason-Dixon_Line)
Here you go; Y'all is singular. (Ex. Are y'all coming? Said to one person)
All y'all is plural. (Ex. Hay, All Y'all, let's go)
All y'all's is plural possessive. (Ex. Get all yall's stuff off the floor! Said by me often :o)
Ever-so-happy to help clear this southern lingo up! :o)
This whole thing is making me laugh.
Famous Canadians..
Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, Pamela Anderson. :) I'm thinking maybe Peter Jennings, too?
Typical Canadians wear flannel plaid shirts and carry axes, I think.
You have a dollar COIN?
Yes, I love my President. I think he takes a beating every single day but I know millions of people like him and pray for him. You just never hear about that.
Hopefully my knowledge of Canada will grow as my friendship with you does! :)
