For I Know the Plans I Have for You...

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11
I was just visiting over at Diary of 1, and was encouraged by the Psalm that she uses to battle her fear. The above verse is one of my favorite verses to combat my feelings of being overwhelmed/ unfocused/ forsaken/ anxious, etc- all those pity party thoughts! God does not intend to harm me- I do that well enough myself! He wants to give me HOPE and a Future.
Wow!

Jane, I love that one, too. I'll never forget the day I found that verse. I was sitting in my car, age 20, having been in church for years and never hearing Jeremiah 29:11. I was desperate for counsel from the Lord, facing a challenge ahead of me, and I opened my Bible there in the car by myself. It flipped right to Jeremiah 29 and my eyes landed precisely on that verse. I still remember being totally amazed that I had never seen this before, and awestruck that God would speak so directly to my need. I had that perfect peace that only comes from Him, that no matter what events unfolded, He had prepared good plans for me...and I read further to verses 13 and 14..."You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord...What an incredible promise!

That's definitly my life verse!
